Moving the Morgan-July of 2004

We purchased the Morgan in June of 2004 and moved it the first week of July.  I bought a used Johnson 9.9HP Seahorse outboard and bolted on a new adjustable engine bracket.  The Johnson had no trouble powering the Morgan five miles up the Magothy river north of Annapolis to Ferry Point Marina.

My wife Anne and Bud prepping the boat for departure, The Morgan ready to go, Anne at the wheel.

Bud sold the Morgan to us ''as is'' and was upfront about the condition of the hull.  He told us that he was selling the rig for basic sail salvage. We knew from our conversations that he sailed the Morgan competitively.  I later learned from a boat owner I ran into at the marina who recognized the boat said that "Bud was one hell of a sailor". He often sailed the Annapolis to Bermuda race and always placed at the top !

Bud helping us launch the Morgan, Bud and his wife Sarah seeing us off, Our son Scott along for the ride. Little did Scott know then that he would be spending many weekends helping us out with the boat.
